I modified the first scenario of EI to force the AI to recruit Dark Adepts only, and tried to beat the scenario on hardest difficulty. What's the best strategy for the modified scenario?

Took three tries but beat this on hard (nightmare) level! Posting here because in neither approaches in the strategy guide worked for me.

Hi, so I ended up with only 100 Gold to do this scenario. I've tried sending Ghosts to the northwest keep as suggested but I don't have high level ghosts, and hence the gryphons overwhelm me easily, even when I use my very experienced recalled necromancers etc etc
