Re: An Orcish Incrusion: some questions and ideas

Actually that tower could be build by elves or dwarves in some ancient times so that is the explanation. And about the lich, that of course it shoudn't be that they accidentally met that lich in the swamp. Possibly Linaera had some issues with that lich and asked elves to help her against the lich f...

Re: An Orcish Incrusion: some questions and ideas

Heh, yes, merfolk, I just was thinking about them. Good they are near. I was thinking that the first scenario of this campaign should be on the orcish side with orcs attacking woses and someone else. That someone else could be merfolk. So orcs (possibly with nagas help) killed woses and merfolk (liv...

An Orcish Incursion: some questions and ideas

I want to discuss some issues about An Orcish Incrusion here. The campaign represents "the first direct elvish clash with orcs" so this probably important to save this moment of Wesnoth history and not to demainline it but rather rework it. The campaign has almost no storyline, the only pl...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

I hope that despite a desire to save as much mainlaine content as possible you all understand that something must be done. I really wonder why this question arose so late, after 15+ years of the game exists. Wesnoth as 'the setting' is a very pathetic product. Is not that obvious? A set of of barely...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

Northern Rebirth has a good storyline in the beginning but in later stages it is a total fault. I would really prefer that instead of current branch a hidden one would be put into the light where the main hero got under control of the lich and became a lich himself but was able to reborn back. Um… ...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

I am also oppose of removing SoTA from mainline simply because it is a best mainline campaign for now. Even if we take this as main point - "Mal Keshar stumbles upon the Sceptre of Fire during his descent into darkness" - that does not mean the we have to exchange the book of Ardonna to th...

Re: Art of War, version 0.9.9.3 is coming soon

Great, put it on 1.14 already!
1.16 coming soon and you are still on 1.12!
Losing much of audience because of this!

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

I can only greet such ideas because many mainline campaigns are weak in many aspects, including plotlines. Eastern Invasion is probably an example of worst. AOI do not have a storyline but is better to not having any storyline that having bad ones. In the end all depends of skill of plotline writer ...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Base Units

Wow, these females are really cool! They look of the same style now (including leg problems I mentioned). Also lvl3 unit looks really dangerous now which is good to fit the name better. Concerning nagas, I find that all new images are great too. What I do like the most is that in bow-equipped variat...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Base Units

"doofusish" complaints I cannot.   There are a lot of women fighters in dynamic poses in Primaval faction. So even in this the dynamic pose of Strider reminds me of Archaic era (Swiftfoot for example, https://units.wesnoth.org/1.14/Archaic_Era/en_US/Primeval%20Swiftfoot.ht...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Base Units

They are already in the units database. http://units.wesnoth.org/1.15/mainline/en_US/mainline.html#Dunefolk Often I do like doofus's work, but in this case I would really prefer the previous version of skirmisher line. They became more squat now and also you cannot even distinguish that they are fem...

Re: Descent into Darkness

I've just finished translating new revison of Descent into Darkness into Russian and I want to say that I really like the campaign's storyline and new revisions in particular. It was a pleasure to translate it. In contrast to the experience with South Guard which was also reworked some time ago, but...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Unit Descriptions

Translating Sunderer... ______________ Among the many different type of Dune horsemen, there are those who most enjoy the frantic melee at the heart of battle. Those who are so disposed—and skilled enough to survive multiple skirmishes—are recruited into the ranks of the Sunderers. As sturdy, robust...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Unit Descriptions

FYI, changing some unit names as listed here: https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/pull/4520. I think I'm likely to put them in as they're listed now. Still up for consideration: Dervish, Horse Archer (Swiftrider). Thank you. I had exactly the same idea about Horse Archer at lvl2 (it could be on lvl1...
