Re: Whatever happened to 1 vs. 1 ?
I don't really use the MP server, but maybe it's different depending on time of day? You two live in very different time zones, seemingly. I wouldn't doubt that this is at least somewhat the case, since different modifications might be more popular in different countries. Also, people might play di...

Re: Whatever happened to 1 vs. 1 ?
It would be interesting to see the actual numbers, but it seems to me that there are more 1v1s than there used to be, what with the ladder and all. . It would be interesting to see the numbers. I don't actually know that this is true, it just seems to be the case. I also don't really see that many ...

Whatever happened to 1 vs. 1 ?
I have been playing Wesnoth off and on for quite a while, and after taking some time off, I've noticed something different in the past few months. In Multiplayer, games of 1 vs. 1 seem to be very rare. There are often upwards of two dozen games going on, and often only one or two of those is a one o...

Re: [Mainline] Making ambush more general
I think what the OP is after is rather a naming convention for all possibilities of hide that could arise eventually. But, IMHO, additionnal hide abilities are not likely to spread all over mainline, and seeking to bind UMC in specific terms is jsut a lsot cause. Look at Inspire, for instance: I'm ...

[mainline] New unit idea (not for default MP)
While playing through Sceptre of Fire, I thought of a possible unit idea, as a branch off of the Dwarvish scout line. Basically, at Level 2, there would be an option to advance to a unit that was a less-heavily armed scout, that was terminal, but that had better movement and defense in certain terra...

Re: [Mainline] Making ambush more general
I can see where there would be confusion, but that confusion will be increased in the future, as more people invent more abilities that all do the same thing. Then, when there is a dozen of them, it will be very hard to go back and all call them "hide" or "ambush" or whatever. Th...

[Mainline] Making ambush more general
I was just thinking about the ambush ability, and how it is tied to one specific type of terrain (or rather a class, since there are multiple forest terrains) As far as I know, this is mostly due to historical reasons, since when the game was developed, there was only one unit that had the Ambush ab...

Re: Scenario 24: Battle for Wesnoth
(1) What difficulty levels and game versions have you played the scenario on? Most recently, medium. Oh, and 1.8.5 (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 3 or 4. It is somewhat difficult because of the waves of troops near the beginning, but there is nothing tricky about it, as such. (3...

Re: The Army and Government of Wesnoth
Notably, unlike typical real medieval states to the best of my knowledge, Wesnoth would appear to have a large standing army. Of course, our knowledge of Wesnoth history is somewhat biased...it could just be that the army is called up in times when there is a tyrant on the throne (Heir to the Thron...

So is there any official verdict on this idea?
Can it at least be "BWH"?

Re: The Cost Of Living v1.0 (for BfW 1.8)
I guess one of the problems I have with the difficulty level is that I am used to playing a certain way, that is fairly conservative. Perhaps in going with the emotional tone of this campaign, I am supposed to play in a more "cannon-fodder" manner. One suggestion: if that is what you are g...

Well then, I am going to play it again!
But this time, I had several glasses of wine to FORTIFY myself.

Re: The Cost Of Living
I tried playing the campaign on Easy. The good news: it looks like you put effort into the dialog, maps, and scenarios. The bad news: it is way too hard on Easy. Specifically, in the 2nd scenario, I ran out of time, only having gotten an Orcish Assassin close enough to poison the leader. The biggest...

Re: Easy Strategy that always wins: using the Elvish Sylph
HttT on medium is the only campaign I have ever played, and I only got about half way through it before I started playing exclusively on the server. In that campaign I had one sylph, which is the only sylph I have ever personally controlled, but yea your right, it pretty much did mop up anything th...

Ooops! Just didn't think of it.Velensk wrote:I find it a little strange that for undead you mention ghouls and not dark adepts.
