Re: Reason for Villages healing +8 & Castles/Keeps 0
Why would castles and keeps heal? You present this as if it should be obvious, but it really isn't. It doesn't make sense at all from a gameplay perspective. Even from a "realistic" point a view, a kind of argument that is generally dismissed at first sight, it doesn't make sense. Historic...

Re: Wesnoth archers need an upgrade
Anyway, more related to the original post, I stumbled onto this page earlier today. Maybe Wesnoth archers are not put to shame as much as we originally thought?

Re: Wesnoth archers need an upgrade
In the regards of sings vs bows, I would suppose while slings are worthwhile, the bow could be more versatile because it surely had more effective range? Also, maybe slings are more impaired by leather and padded armors, which were more common in a certain age, but not necessarily that much so by me...

Re: [Poll] Should the default animation speed be increased?
Anyway, there are players who never check in any game the options/preferences menu and in many games there isn't the possibility to change the game speed. There are also player who skip tutorials and jump straight in normal mode. Should we also include a tutorial part in the first campaign's normal...

Re: Loyalists
Hm, I'm interested why you think a metal breastplate and all leather (what he's supposed to be wearing, based off the Loyalist portrait thread) otherwise would be more like the old Javelineer. I feel like that would actually lend more visual priority to the metal by making it larger and more isolat...

Re: Loyalists
Design-wise, do we want to javelineer to have a shiny silvery-blue armor like all other units? I thought the coppery one gave it character and made it stand out. I'd say either keep the old color palette, or if you absolutely want the shiny stuff, maybe just give him a metal breastplate, no pauldron...

Re: Pros and cons of classes
Yeah, I kinda disagree with you on some stuff. First off, for me, being loyal/chaotic is a pro, and being neutral is a con. Sure, you have to retreat at unfavorable ToD, but when it's you time, boy does your opponent get it! Neutral factions are just forced to follow, retreating when it's their oppo...

Re: Extra Terrestiral Economics
Sure, a lot of big industries would crash, but I guess it could be for the better. And the aliens wouldn't keep it up indefinetely. I mean, how many tons of earth sand could they need for study? And that is IF they decided to trade for it and don't just lift it unseen from some desert or something...

Re: female units
I think it's also part flavor. There's a whole background universe for each race. I guess in human society, being a soldier enlisted in the army is a male thing, hence no femal spearwomen, cavaliers, knights or whatever. But it is quite the opposite for other races, saurians, for instance (although ...

Re: Sprite questions
I say drop the question of animations for the time being, drawing 1 good sprite can be a daunting task y itself, no need to concern yourself with making like 20 times more. Especially if it turns out the base sprite is not optimal and you have to correct every animation frame one by one. And even mo...

Re: Ranked play
If my intel is still up to date, the devs are in fact adamantly opposed to this and it should never ever be a part of wesnoth. There certainly is a very good reason for this attitude, but I can't exactly recall off the top of my head, sorry. But I guess you could go read the FPI list in the ideas se...

Re: Introduce yourself here!
lets face it, if you were fighting someone your not gonna just stand there and let them hit you over an over again, no your not your going to keep swinging as long as they are swinging at you, I do not know how such a fundamental aspect as defending oneself managed to escape the creators of this ga...

Re: Newbie level question
1) After a certain level, the only advantage is indeed a few more hit points. That and healing. It's not much to go on, and that's why it is preferable to feed kill to lower-leveled units. After all, Wesnoth is a strategy game, not an RPG, and it is bad strategy to focus on an elite unit squad. 2) D...

Re: [Mainline] Delfador's unit's level is too high for his s
Yeah, you lost me there: Preamble When comparing unit's stats [...] Comparing unit stats in Wesnoth is rarely if ever a good argument. Not only are factions balanced against factions, so unit vs unit comparisons are useless, but pure argument like this never really get a unit's stats to change, you'...
