A second shot at the windows. I'm still not happy with this, but it's an improvement over the previous. What's still wrong with these windows, or the glow? Do the edge and sill not have enough depth, still, or are they right now? Is the lightness/saturation about right on the glowy background, or do...

Merman Hoplight: hides in deep water
Giant Spider: hides in caves
Yeti: hides in snow
Dwarvish Sentinel: hides in caves
Gryphon Master: hides in mountains (but, I'd really like to see a lvl3 Gryphon Lord)

You are all somewhat right. Perhaps, this looks better if it was hidden with a link, and when the user clicks the link, which says something obvious, like 'preview', the link will expand to include a unit animation box. Or just have the images animate when you hover over them. Then to skip the anim...

If we can't make it work for all, try to make it work for green/red CB, which is much more common than blue/yellow CB. Red/Green colorblindness is commonly diagnosed and gets all the press, but this is at least partly because it's so easy to diagnose (they can't tell red from green at _all_) and al...

I think you should remember the thickness of the wall, which should be considerable, and add the window side that cuts through the wall. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. How could I miss something like that? This is why art is not a significant part of my day job. Perhaps you could put the spikes on the top of ...

A full-fledged vector tool like Inkscape is better for vectors than Photoshop, IMHO. You can export it as a bitmap and colour it in Photoshop later. ;) Of course, it's useless for pixel art. :D Besides being useless for small-scale pixel art such as Wesnoth sprites, it's also highly suboptimal for ...

How about hill-ambush (i.e., hides in hills, like a unit with ambush does in forest). With its being an orc, that would make more sense to me.

Here are my first attempts at blue and green glow, coming out of windows. I don't like them, either of them, at all. However, I'm not quite entirely sure why, in detail. I think the windows may be too small relative to the towers, but there's more going on than that. The colors may not be quite righ...

Anti-aliasing, and *more* anti-aliasing.

and not have weird flare--The reason I didn't know the extent of it was my computer seems darker screened than others. If you keep your layers, such things become much easier to "tone down" if necessary. On another note, I've had another look at Jetryl's edit of the druid, and he's not ju...

BTW, I'm more than interested in these sketches. Should I attach the .xcf with the layers, or is the .png version enough? Wouldn't something like this be nice? Something along those lines, maybe, but not that exactly. I had considered a glowing window effect, and yellow/orange/red was my first thou...

Realism reason: I can't imagine horses wanting to carry an Orc. You can make horses do things they don't want to do, but the more operative issue is that orcs generally would rather eat horses than ride them. Additionally, IIRC, the steppes where these orcs live are a bit further north than Mongoli...

Gargoyles atop the pillars might be nice. I don't know if I can draw gargoyles, but I know I *certainly* cannot draw them to be recognizeable at that small size. Bear in mind, the little tiny size in the middle of that image is about the size things will actually be in the game. Maybe somebody coul...

This image is good, I´d even say better than the previous. One thing: I know that the guy should be strong, but elvish swords are light and easy to handle, so he doesn´t need this monstrous arms. And it doesn´t look sexy :P He's a hippy nature guy who lives with animals. He doesn't need to...

Trolls should be green because that's how most people imagine them, obviously you can make yellow trolls, but not much people will like it because it collide with their imaginatied trolls. Gnomes are sometimes considered as yellow (e.g., in Shanarra), but this is the first I've heard of yellow trol...

Malevolent Castle

Okay, with the new castle graphics going in, there was talk of other castles. The developers are already working on certain ones (e.g., for orcs), but there was also talk of the need for a dark castle suitable for undead. which AFAIK no one has seriously worked on. This thread is devoted to that. A ...
