Re: I just killed Rakshas...On Nightmare in "An Old Friend"

That's awesome, nice job! It's always interesting to see that no matter how impossible the author tries to make a scenario, Wesnoth players will always manage to find some way around it. :D Due to the way RNG works, their's really no such thing as an unwinnable battle in this game, short of a time ...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

Yeah, I think humans are over-featured. Dwarves and elves get featured quite a bit, of course, and the orcs are often used as villains and even got their own mainline campaign, but I'd like to see more on the factions that aren't the generic Tolkienesque fantasy staples. I've been out of the Wesnoth...

Re: What are the worst units in the game

I'm not a fan of ulfserkers.

They're expensive and strong enough to be annoying when facing them but too fragile to be worth their cost.

Re: Would you date an Orc?

;) I'm just being silly, bit I've noticed how much attention is given to female Elves in fantasy games and wondering about other races. In most fantasy games and litereature there are Half-Orcs, meaning it is possible for Orcs to breed with Humans. Those could be hybrids as a result of dark magic t...

Re: Movies discussion

I saw Spectre last night. Their were a lot of things I liked about it, and a lot of things I didn't. Still, it would work fairly well as an end to Craig's Bond (in fact, a sequel might well ruin the ending).

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

Actually, Wesnoth elves are quite different from Tolkien elves. They're not immortal, for one, as I recall (though I suppose I could be wrong about that- I don't recall a source). Also, the multiplayer factions have very little to do with the campaign stories, and to the best of my knowledge, no el...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

If you replaced Lintanir with Wesmere in NR that, might make more sense. But I disagree that the differences between groups of elves is "less important". One of the worst trademarks of a lot of science fiction/fantasy writing is the idea that races and societies are basically homogenous. I...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

About elves being free spirited and less organized... is that actually supported by existing campaigns? It seems like a generalization one might make about elves, but I'm not sure the evidence actually supports it. And a council isn't necessarily less authoritarian than a monarchy. A small council r...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

And with that we are back on topic: Turuk , considering the long-liveliness of elves, the elvish characters from NR should (at least some of them) be considered/included/mentioned in HttT when they reach Lintanir and vice versa the elves of the council in NR. It is similarly odd there is no Kalenz ...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

Well, since we are doing big changes to HttT anyway, there is nothing stopping us from cutting/changing that line or to mention in the epilogue something about the time it took them to consolidate their rule and that - once they started turning their attention outside of their realm - the rebellion...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

It does address the issue. There is an oversight in the writing of NR that should be corrected at some point, either by having Konrad show up and play a role (preferable) That's a fairly major change to NR that we're talking about. Although it makes a certain amount of sense. Revolts have benefitte...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

That: 1. The writer of HttT set up a lead-in for another campaign to be written in the future, possibly by someone else. 2. The person who took up said task totally spaced on the fact Konrad was supposed to play a role of some kind. Perhaps, but that doesn't address the actual issue now, which is w...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

Since it seems we're also discussing NR's connection to Heir to the Throne, I guess I'll weigh in on that too (NR is actually probably my favourite Wesnoth campaign). I haven't gone over the issue in great detail (though I'm currently replaying both HttT and NR), but at least a couple seeming discre...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

I would tread very, very carefully with the Li'sar as a prisoner idea, for at least two reasons: 1. Its a major alteration to the existing story, and may have ripple effects through the narrative. 2. Having Li'sar be Konrad's captive and then ultimately fall in love with him could have really creepy...
