Re: Most difficult campaigns?
So... there is right now a way to beat save port scenario with average RNG in time? Do you mean SotBE: Black Flag? This is the scenario where enemy ships come in and unload a bunch of troops behind your lines, when you already were about to get overrun. On nightmare, it now has 22 turns (under 1.11...

Re: Most difficult campaigns?
I second the nomination for Son of the Black Eye being the toughest mainline campaign now under 1.11. The campaign was tweaked by mattsc, whose design philosophy is to make nightmare difficulty actually be a nightmare. Here are the difficulty ratings (1-10) I gave for the scenarios in the campaign: ...

Re: NR-Infested Caves - Clear the Caves, Min. Gold, Nightmar
Sorry for the brain fart. I called Infested Caves the hardest scenario of any mainline campaign, and I had more than minimum gold, so good job.

Re: NR-Infested Caves - Clear the Caves, Min. Gold, Nightmar
I beat it with min gold on nightmare, no save-reloads, version 1.9.4: http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=20358&start=15#p477500 Northern Rebirth is my least favorite campaign, suffering from too much "counter pushing". Clear the Caves involves stalemate lines and long t...

Re: Good playing habits and settings each turn
Before you hit "end turn" (control-space), identify your most vulnerable units. If you're playing the AI, then you can try to predict which of your units will be attacked first. The first attacked are usually the ones the AI thinks it can kill, but another possibility is powerful units tha...

Re: Scenario Review - EI: Captured
Yes, it was a continuation from 1.10 saves.Alarantalara wrote:Was this a continuation from 1.10 saves? If so, the deprecated syntax is in the units carried over from the saved games and is unrelated to the scenario itself.

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: Rise of Wesnoth
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.16, 430 starting gold (200 is minimum.) (2) Difficult? 9.5, I had to replay the previous scenario for more gold. ~338 was not enough. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? The plot strains credibility, but doesn't quite break it, so it's good. (5) Challenges? Phew, I ...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: Return of the Fleet
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.16, 293 starting gold (200 is minimum.) (2) Difficult? 8, if you avoid the triggers, 9 or 10 otherwise. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? Fine. (5) Challenges? It's hard to get the Mermen safely to the water and Jessene safely back from near the water where she ap...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: Troll Hole
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 200 starting gold (the minimum.) (2) Difficult? 7. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? Green trolls? (5) Challenges? This is not an easy scenario with minimum gold, but I made the most of my gold by recruiting some Peasants, who advanced rapidly. One almost made...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: The Dragon
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 337 starting gold. (2) Difficult? 6 to kill the Dragon and not the enemy leaders. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? Good. (5) Challenges? Recruiting versus the saurian-mudcrawler-dragon force is challenging, because impact units are good against saurians, but ...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: New Land
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 100 starting gold. (2) Difficult? 2, it is possible to lose if you try. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? Okay. Skeleton crews spooked me too. (5) Challenges? Fighting boredom. (6) Fun? 1. (7) Changes? It needs a redesign. I suggest that you require the player...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: Rough Landing
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 306 starting gold. (2) Difficult? 6. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? I loved the part about the Naga wanting metal from ships. Makes sense. (5) Challenges? I was fighting two sea serpents at the same time as Naga, so that was stressful. (6) Fun? 7, a good sc...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: Peoples in Decline
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 524 starting gold. (2) Difficult? 7. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? There's talk at the end about what the drakes will do when their island sinks. Um, there are no drakes any more. Actually, there was one alive at the end, but just one. (5) Challenges? Havi...

(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 384 starting gold, finally L3 Lady Outlaw. (2) Difficult? 6. Much easier than before. Are there less undead? (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? Fine. (5) Challenges? As everybody says, the water battle is the hardest front, but even it just requires patience. (...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: The Sewer
(1) Level and version? hard, 1.11.15, 482 starting gold, L2 Lady Outlaw. (2) Difficult? 6. Just need to keep criticals out of harm's way. (3) Objectives? Clear. (4) Dialog? Fine. (5) Challenges? The combats in the two big swamp rooms are interesting, since it's an alien environment. Recruiting seve...
