Well, there are many ways to go about it. You can off course access the defense value for each terrain through "{UNIT}.defense.{TERRAIN}" (terrain being the same as in [defense]). You can't access the current defense unless you proceed through Lua, though, and I'm not qualified enough to ...

I'll have to try all that stuff out. though I ideally it would be nice to have the modifier applied to the attack before the damage is done, like Time of Day, and Damage Type Resistance, so that it could be taken into account for the Damage Calculations window.

Hi, I'm trying to make a weapon special that changes the attackers damage depending on the defenders terrain. Praise be to [Wesnoth deity]! I finally beat it by the skin of my teeth. I think what turned the corner is when I started trying to assassinate the enemy leaders with my horsey units.
