Re: Vranca´s artwork
I really like the costuming on this unit, it's very well done. I don't care so much for the strange head and dull grey skin, but I suppose that depends on what sort of creature you are representing. The main thing is it lacks color contrast or variety to visually separate the various elements; Every...

Re: Vranca´s artwork
I'd chose a different color scheme for the silver armor. It actually is very readable to me what is armor and what is skin, but it would just look a lot better if there was more difference in color. Right now there is a lot of cool greys and blues and it leaves the sprite looking rather bland compar...

Re: Vranca´s artwork
The increased saturation and contrast of the new color scheme has improved the quality of the sprite a lot. Something I meant to mention about your Sith sprite but forgot was that the colors all were very similar and kinda washed out the color and contrast of the sprite too much, but I think you've ...

Re: Heavy infantryman run animation
His hips and waist need to be probably at least 1.5x as wide as they are right now. They should be just slightly smaller than his chest or alternatively, just slightly (2-4 pixels probably) thinner than the his hips in the base frame. The kinematics of the upper body aren't too bad, so I'd suggest t...

Re: Ancient Mediterranean-Themed Units
Indeed, it has been a bit of a challenge, but I've enjoyed working on it. Hopefully I've learned a thing or two out of him. There are still many things that could be improved, especially the spear, but I'm going to try to set him aside and move on to something else now. If ever I or someone else fin...

Re: Vranca´s artwork
I didn't get through tweaking everything, but it should be enough to give an example. I added one desaturated shade of red/pink to put reflections of the light-saber into the armor, but if color count is an issue for you it wont change much to remove it. I started to tweak the legs a bit, as they ha...

Re: Ancient Mediterranean-Themed Units
Been trying to do some more work lately, but have been lacking motivation and inspiration. I have done some shading on this guy a bit here and there in the meantime. I'm quite pleased with the boots and pants, but not so sure about the tunic. It probably needs some more darks for contrast. :hmm: Par...

Re: Vranca´s artwork
It appears kinda muddled overall. I think the issue is it needs more contrast. The hood/helm thing looks good, but the body is hard to read.

Re: artisticdude's Art, Sketches and WIP's
Legs look really nice, but the arms lack a bit of definition. Just practicing/experimenting around a bit, so take it as such, but without adding to the color count, mixed some colors around to improve the range/break the monotony. I like the effect, though it's very subtle.

Re: Some sketches
That jungle terrain looks quite impressive. Great job. It has a really, really nice sense of depth to it. If it's okay to spill over the hexes a little, I would definitely suggest doing so with some ferns and such on the jungle floor. Right now it does look a little restrained and overly-structured....

Re: Ancient Mediterranean-Themed Units
WIP of level 3 light cavalry unit, alongside the level 3 heavy cavalry unit for comparison. Still a lot of tweaking to do, but C&C on positioning and pose is much appreciated. Other than some tweaks to the head, the horse is largely finished, though I haven't been able to adequately work in the ...

Re: REQUEST - Clone horseman gallop to knight.
...I can't believe I'm just now noticing this, as I've been following the topic in the development forum, but the nose on the level 1 horse! Yay! <3 The lvl 2 horse base-frame still has the single dot nose which has been carried through in the animations but should be easy to sort out. And of course...

Re: New animations
His lunging foot is facing slightly outward through the entire movement just as it is in his standing pose. It should be rotated to be in-line with the body with the toes facing southeast (and the enemy) while he's moving it.
Edit: clarified which foot I meant. And the direction.

Re: Ancient Mediterranean-Themed Units
Aww, no sign of the peltasts' trademark crescent shield? The stuff posted above is very old, check page 3 for a newer peltest, though it is set to go through a slight rework eventually. Which legs do you mean: The horse's or the rider's? Is the issue the rider's leg being angled in too much? I can ...

Re: Art for Beyond Southern Hells
And to answer this regarding changing base line-art as you shade while we're at it: ...Seriously, where would you want to change it as you shade? (Except for the colour change, good catch with that...I forget every alternate sprite it seems.) Because as you shade things, especially at the pixel scal...
