Re: SSO in action
Don't you also need an entire machine park of computers to use it to its fullest? No, not at all. It was, 6-7 years ago when you had to have Giga Sampler. Now they have they're own engine, like PLAY, only much better. And i find VSL to use less ram than EWQL. I'll send you some demo i'm close to fi...

Re: SSO in action
When the day comes that I decide to sink a boatload of money into a pro grade library, it's probably not going to be EWQLSO. I would like something warmer and grittier. You don't have many alternatives: VSL is the library you must go for. I've purchased a couple of DVD libraries and i kind of wishe...

Re: SSO in action
Pretty good composition! And i like the sounds, not bad at all! To you sample your sound from real instruments? Personally i'm also not using EWQL SO that much anymore. I've grown tired of the sounds... not too much human feeling in them and too US film score oriented. Good luck on your library! :eng:

Re: Quick question guys...
*I* need RAID for EWQL. :) Of course I'm running the Platinum expansion and am stuck with only 2 gigs of RAM. Strange, i worked for a very long time with EWQL Platinum XP with 2gig ram. Never felt the need for a raid... perhaps, the firewire external HD helped a bit. But since it loads in the ram, ...

Re: Quick question guys...
You don't really need a RAID setup for EWQL. But because it all loads in the ram, the 4 gigs serve though.jeremy2 wrote:I have a couple of external SATA disks set up in RAID 0 for better performance and use DFD. Unfortunately my laptop is topped out at 2 gigs - I'd be much happier with 4.

Re: Papelmedia soundfont
Well... for 27€, its pretty good. Then, its not as good as EWQL, but you can't beat this price!
I think i sounds decent.

Re: GPL Policy
From what I've been told about SACEM, your registration with them is a serious problem to wesnoth because it means that any work you do is automatically regéistered with them and that even though you still own copyright to it, you don't have rights to define distrubtion of it anymore, or rather am ...

Re: GPL Policy
[Just to make sure everyone's on the same page - when you make something GPL, you keep the copyright on the thing as well. You can still do whatever you want with it - unlike when it's commissioned by someone. You still own it. You can still sell it. Well what i am trying to explain in my bad engli...

Re: GPL Policy
Well, it isn't exactly the same, because in these cases you get paid (a lot). Same for coders by the way. When I do something for a job, I get paid a lot. Does that mean I should try to retain more rights/restrictions on the work I do for Wesnoth, since I'm not getting paid for it? Plus, the music ...

Re: GPL Policy
Most of the devs have made it clear that they don't just want composers/artists. They want a particular TYPE of composer/artist working on the game. They want the type of composers/artists who see their music/art as open content ready to be reworked by anyone as they wish to. I think it has become ...

Re: GPL Policy
What everyone needs to understand is that musicians are a very territorial breed. From day one we're told to protect our music at all costs, not to mention that most of us get very, very attached to our music. I'm not saying this should be an excuse for making exceptions and somehow tarnishing the ...

Re: GPL Policy
I don't know about other countries, but in Sweden you can do this: before releasing music, burn the songs on a cd, put the cd in an envelope, address it to yourself, and then go to the post office. There, you tell them you want it delivered with... um, I don't know the English word for this but... ...
