Re: Favorite freeware game

Nobody mentioned Fish Fillets yet; a devilishly tough puzzle game with a bit of a story and plenty of character.

Re: Wograld - our graphics requirements are less demanding

Jetryl and Dave do have a point, but they also miss a point too. Games can be designed by people who are not programmers. An example in the open source community is FIFE and now PARPG which were created and managed by a non-programmer. However, he put up a lot more than a blog before putting out req...

Re: For what it's worth...

Are you going to program this yourself?

Why not start publishing this information somewhere more formal than a wesnoth forum thread?

FWIW a good place to get feedback is the FreeGameDev forums:

Re: Tales of Aeldaria (West's & devman's RPG)

And of course it's not like your game will not take time to do, so by the time you are well into creating the game, FIFE will have improved a lot too, and have several games using it - i.e. well tested + larger dev community. ;)

Re: FreeGameDev: open source game dev / chat / info

Ok, well, any suggestions for improvement are welcome on the forum although I'm not directly responsible for the theme.

However, what I don't get about what was said above, is that it has the same number of 'lines' and 'background fills' as, well, the wesnoth forum?

Re: Tales of Aeldaria (West's & devman's RPG)

I recommend you investigate existing isometric engines that will reduce the effort needed as well as consolidate development (you get the benefit of the engine developers continuing to improve the engine). I recommend FIFE, an RPG engine that uses Python: http://www.fifengine.de/ More information on...

Project Gamma looks interesting. I'll post it on Free Gamer. You may want to post it over at the FreeGameDev forums too:

Re: mesilliac's terrain graphics thread

I'd also note that they look more suitable for a diamond-tiled isometric game (something I'm trying to work on) than a hex-based game like Wesnoth.

Wow those walls are incredibly. Would it be ok to use them? Are they available for download anywhere?
