Re: Roar of the Woses

In response to Loci's comments on the Haruspex, I have three points to make. Firstly, the faction may have lots of healers, but the units have poor resistances and few hitpoints. You need lots of healing to survive. Secondly, the Haruspex is already good. Having a more powerful mage variant is very ...

Re: Flight to Freedom (drake campaign)

A bug I encountered in Wesnoth 1.8.6 using version 5.0.0: the message about a lightning elemental was displayed when I played a replay of 08_Landfall, but no Thunder Spirit appeared. This was followed by a string of errors (related to recalling my units, as I recall). A later attempt to view the rep...

Re: "A Gryphon's Tale" campaign

First, a bug fix: in 07_The_trainer, "revenant" must be replaced with "Revenant" in the [unit] tag or no unit will be created, ending the dialogue early and making the scenario unwinnable. I'm up to 08_The_necromancers on 1.10.5 with the version of the campaign that was up today,...

Re: Start of the War

Replays! I doubt I'll play Seige of Knalga. The scenarios aren't designed around gold hoarding. No, but giving the player 3 recruit/recall spaces means that recruiting takes a long time and so upkeep on some units is charged multiple times before recruitment ends, while with more spaces they would b...

Re: Start of the War

Hello. I'm here to complain . There is an unclaimed village in More Than Enough right next to the loyal Thunderer. Having another village or two would make this scenario better: you're pretty much certain to end up deep in negative gold, but losing the chance to win because you recruited a turn too ...

Re: Start of the War

Playing the version available on 27/01/14 on Wesnoth version 1.10.5 on Windows Vista Home Premium, I encountered an error at the end of Vanquished Outpost. My gold carried over in the old style: I received 200 gold for the next scenario because 0.8*22=18<200, whereas I should have received 200+(0.4*...

Attached to the post, of course. Anyone who suggests I forgot to upload them is probably a spy for Ashevierre and not to be trusted.

Re: Forgotten Kingdom

It may be, which is why I'm making all changes to a separate copy of the game files as of two weeks ago. I've finished coding the new healer units! Jeord is going to be a Herbalist. If I include Witches I'm going to use a special variant for FK so that they can't advance to DAs or Mages. The new uni...

Re: Forgotten Kingdom

I'm not sure about it as I didn't use them during my run through the campaign. From looking at the files it doesn't seem that the Mountain is made proper use of, being not much tougher than the Spearman. The Fury seems more useful but I have mages for blowing through chokepoints (and there aren't ma...

Re: Mage usage class

I also believe that they only affect recruitment patterns. What I'm asking is why the archer unit is classed as a mixed fighter and vice versa.

Re: Forgotten Kingdom

Guess what got worked on! I spent the summer as a research assistant so I wasn't able to work on FK. In fact, I was so busy I was on complete Wesbreak. I'm back now (who'd have guessed?) and have done some work on FK. I've reworked the pack-fury wolves to provide more variation and much stronger uni...

Mage usage class

In both 1.10.5 and 1.8.6 the Mage has usage= mixed fighter. Why not usage=archer? A Bowman is clearly a better mixed fighter than a Mage but is classed as an archer. Is this to prevent the AI using them in a certain way, or what? I don't see any strategic reason to consider a mage a mixed fighter: i...

Re: Cities of the Frontier - now for BfW 1.11

I'm so happy you're back! I love this campaign! I'm... less happy with the changes you're making. Should calamaties occur every summer beyond the first? That seems a little excessive in terms of both flavour and gameplay. I'm also not wild about the autumn gold loss, partially on difficulty grounds ...

Re: Advancement query

Advancement named fireball is not on the list of the unit's advancements
fireball is removed from the list of advancements
I am confused. Do you mean that an [advance] tag with id=fireball is in the list of modifications applied but there is no [advancement] tag with id=fireball?

Re: Advancement query

That's really clever! It should also solve all of my problems. Thank you! Now, after advancement, we can check if he has picked one of the first AMLAs on the restrictive paths (let us name them resistance aura1, fireball1 and regeneration1), and if he has, we delete one of the now forbidden paths' p...
