Re: Scenario Review: NR 5 - The Pursuit

Wesnoth 1.8.4 - is it normal that the 'rod of justice' is always picked up by the unit that finds it first instead of letting any unit decide whether to pick it up?

Confirming that moving Kalenz to the signpost did not work.

Re: 1.5.5 - Missing signpost - Sceptre of Fire

I dunno either, but I am not stupid ya know? And I understand it may not be simple to reproduce. In my second try from the start of the scenario, I moved my units differently, and the signpost appeared immediately when meeting Thursagan. Fact is, for my first attempt in 1.5.5 there still was no sign...

Re: 1.5.5 - Missing signpost - Sceptre of Fire

Under which conditions does the signpost appear? Is it only seen if dwarven units are nearby? Perhaps it doesn't appear if the area around it is covered by shroud? For me, the problem was that it didn't appear till Thursagan and other units moved close to the caves. Exploring the map with a gryphoon...

1.5.5 - Missing signpost - Sceptre of Fire

Version: 1.5.5 Campaign: The Sceptre of Fire Scenario: Searching for the Runecrafter Second scenario objective is to "move Thursagan to the signpost". I see no signpost on the map. Update: The signpost appears on 4,28 (previously a cave field) it seems. It's unclear what leads to discoveri...

Re: Need help with "The Rise of Wesnoth" campaign

You should have two White Mages (one plus Minister Edmond). These two are enough to support your fighters. It is very helpful to use at least two lvl 3 Footpads at the left and right side of the lake. They are not easy to hit and have enough hitpoints to survive a few hits in one turn. Withdraw them...

Re: The Cursed River Road

Here is an example of victory with no save-reload tricks and
these units.

Use Footpads to capture and hold cities and damage the first big waves of enemies.

Re: stats.wesnoth.org - cheaters, be gone!

if you lose one of your best units, ...then your strategy and/or tactic was not good enough. You should have protected your unit better. Move it on better ground, out of range, or shield it with cheap and inexperienced units. Always be prepared for bad luck and a lvl3 unit not hitting an enemy in o...

Re: stats.wesnoth.org - cheaters, be gone!

 A typical example. Everybody who knows the beginning of that campaign notices immediately why the player managed to end with a lot of gold compared with normal non-reload cheating game-play.

Re: stats.wesnoth.org - cheaters, be gone!

Auto-saved and auto-deleted games are not considered at all. Saving games is no operation that submits statistics to the server. Only every time you end a scenario (quit=yellow, defeat=red or victory=green), the differences to your start parameters (from the start turn) are sent to the server. The t...

and players that replayed a previous turn just to try out a new tactic would still have a "luck factor" that won't differ much from the expected value. Analyzing random numbers won't be sufficient, I think. Imagine you reload a turn to kill a single important enemy unit with a severely wo...

Re: stats.wesnoth.org - cheaters, be gone!

If stats.wesnoth.org shall be used to improve the scenario/campaign balancing, it is not helpful to collect data from cheaters who end a scenario with more gold and no lost units, because they retry turns until they get satisfactory random numbers. For "easy" difficulty it might not matter...

stats.wesnoth.org - cheaters, be gone!

Has anyone else noticed that many players, who upload to stats.wesnoth.org, do the "save and reload a turn" thing many times to finish scenarios? That completely fakes the statistics. You are cheating, if you reload a turn until you are happy with the inflicted/taken damage. I wish such up...

I've really enjoyed playing this campaign in Wesnoth 1.0.2.

It is the best one of all I've tried so far.

Especially entertaining are the small extra quests you run into when exploring unknown territory.

Well done!
