How to use special chars (umlauts)?
I'm currently learning the VML language by creating my own little scenario/campaign, but encountered the problem of not being able to use german umlauts. Whenever I use them in a message, the messages text won't show up in the game. Is there some easy solution like compatible strings representing th...

Re: Question about Wesnoth
A related idea that stuck me a while ago was splitting some images (mostly unit portraits) from the main project, so you could a) easily update them (basically people could even copy/paste new images from the Arts-Forum or wherever they want and use them if they knew how to) b) if you are not intere...

Re: Vampires in Wesnoth
In terms of the game, I think it would be best if they /were/ undead - I can't see a vampire dying of poison, can you? I can see them being just as susceptible to poison as faeries are. After all no unit dies to posion in wesnoth, they stop at 1 hp. ;) Additionally there are other ways of getting r...

Re: Vampires in Wesnoth
Then again our vampires don't need to be undead as they are already very similar to lichs. I'd like us to work out some more actual differences. So I'd really like some creative twists. As for the lifespan: Maybe they can use the faerie realm to 'store' memories, maybe even characteristics? That way...

Re: Invasion from the Unknown
Feedback for the 1.5.x/1.6.x version: (1) What difficulty levels and game (& campaign) versions have you played the scenario/campaign on? Easy, current stable version, campaign version 1.14.0 (2) How difficult did you find the scenario/campaign? (1-10) Seemed ok taking easy difficulty and the ex...

Re: Vampires in Wesnoth
I think lichdom changes ones personality, because the soul is lost at the transformation. As a Lich doesn't have any strong feelings (besides hate) or morals - he will do whatever fits him. So he might keep all his former memories and parts of his character, but in general anything good is destroyed...

Re: Vampires in Wesnoth
I see two nice ways explaining the vampire-description: The easy yet convincing way: As we already have draining undead, maybe Vampire is just another word for a Lich? It wouldn't be far off to say people call those nasty bats all too often seen at their side vampiric bats, even more so as they heal...

Re: Hurt and Heal: Campaign Boss Villains (SPOILERS!)
Khrakrahs (EI, SoF) - 5
Karrag (THoT) - 5
Shan Taum (SotBE) - 5
Rakshas (NR) - 4
Yechnagoth (UtBS) - 12 (-2)
As my favorites are already gone, I'll join the downvoters as it will end faster this way and maybe gets interesting again.

I still think a villian with rather important logical flaws is worse than a concept one might have seen before.

Re: Hurt and Heal: Campaign Boss Villains (SPOILERS!)
Its indeed kind of irritating how votes and comments doesn't seem to fit together ('we need more loyalists antagonists' but Asheviere is dropped with many orc chieftains still in the list), but my best guess is that people at least remember Asheviere. You just dont care enough about some villians to...

Re: Kitty's random stuff: Bat!
Still we are talking about wesnoth and not about reality. Last time I checked there are no bats sucking blood from humans after all (and very few that suck blood at all). Well done, I'm glad someone finally will give those suckers a portrait. :) Still the color seems a bit off. I'd like it to be mor...
