Re: New "An Orcish Incursion" story illustrations

Really like the picture. I going to give one or two picture of hilt design that include nail/bolt, but I can't even find them back. So yes, it's neither usual nor realistic. I may remove half of them or even all of them and replace the empty space with marking on the leather. Riveted hilt was a norm...

Re: Heir to the Throne: Portraits

Regarding the sword: There are numerous examples of sword with such a hilt (Gehilts), e.g. in Wiener Hofjagd- und Rüstkammer . However most fencing books from 1400 onwards show swords (swords that are wielded with 2 hands) that have enough room for 2 hands on the hilt with the pommel (Knopf oder Klo...

Keyboard Shortcuts

I'm not sure if it is the right forum, but it says "bugs" at top. It might also be corrected in the 1.9 version as I'm currently running the stable 1.8 version (on Ubuntu). During a dialoge scene, it's not possible to use the keyboard shortcuts. Basically there is only one shortcut that's ...

Re: Water lilies

The new lilies version looks good. The earliest lilies had too many flowers IMHO. One the lower end of the pictures pond they tile (yes I know this is WIP, I just thought I mention it). Don't waterlilies only grow in still waters? So all we need is also the old water version which is still (not anim...

Re: Legend of Wesmere: Human Alliance

Here is what I did, and it seemed to work (I think Version 1.8.0): Recruit all your high level units. I hope you have some shydes for healing. Send a bulk of your unit as fast as possible to Aldar in the castle. When the orcs arrive sit on the castle taking the dammage that Aldar would otherwise hav...

Re: Are orcish assassins and slayers bugged?

Assassins and slayers are ranged marksmen, and with that you have a maximum of 40% chance of avoiding their shots. So 2 out of 3 doesn't sound unrealistic.

Re: TSG, sprites reedition

The problem to me seems to be:
the highlight moves, and gives the impression of the helmet moving.
However the slit for the eyes remains stationary.

Together this gives a rather "wierd" impression, of moving and staying stationary at the same time.

Re: "Programmable" AI that learns from a user

One of the main problems with an AI is, that it is very hard to exactly design an algorythm that does something that's easy for us humans. We all know that the AI in Wesnoth could be improved, however it is hard to figure out how. So in that respect AI is the topic on which you should state how a pr...

Re: Valkiers portraits: living in a permenant imagination

Since I'm already Bikeshedding...
the quiver does need a strap, though.
The people using such a setup usually prefere a 3 or better 4-5 point fixation (shoulders and belt). Assuming 2 points (shoulder and belt) seems okay.

Re: Valkiers portraits: living in a permenant imagination

Since you want to break up the siluette, why not use a bow/arrow-quiver combination (much like Legolas had, but since Hidel is a anti-legolas, this would fit it seems. In the LOTR movies it is seldom really shown, but here are some reverences: http://www.theargonath.cc/characters/legolas/pictures/le...

Re: Valkiers portraits: living in a permenant imagination

I'm not quite sure if I really want to do this: Bike shed alarm (an please take the warning seriously)! On Hamels bow: I know it has been discussed before, but as a (hobby) bow maker and shooter, the way Hamel carries his bow just bothers me everytime I look at the picture. I wouldn't carry a bow th...

Re: Tet Treehouse

Compared to your last try this is a big step forward. I like the ladder on the trunk of the tree. But the door and the "village" part that was copy&pasted just don't fit right. Maybe its just missing the handcrafted part. An idea might be placing the door on the ground in the trunk, an...

Moving several units/sprites at once

Suggestion: Being able to move several Units, or Sprites of Units, at once via WML (mainly for story telling purposes) I was just playing Northern Rebirth - Eastern Flank, and in the beginning Rakshas (Orc Leader) flees with several body-guards over the whole map, with several elves in pursuit. This...

Re: Lavender Terrain

I just think it looks sorta like it's been squeezed out of a tube or something. Also, I notice that the green and purple mix much more in the actual plant, since the flowers are tiny--if you could get that to work at the sprite level, it might go a long way toward making them look like lavender pla...

Re: Lavender Terrain

Second try. I've tried to smooth the rows a bit. The "noise" is repetative (at least I see some sort of pattern there). Once I'm (that is you are) satisfied with the general look I'll work on that. A few references: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/julieponder/lavender.jpg http://www...
