Re: The project to save the Age of Heroes
I would say maybe keep only the Red Mage. If the lvl. 1 Mage is kept it does leave the option to have healers open. The question is how easy it is to upgrade lvl 1 units in this era, since they can get lvl. 2 kills. If it's too easy, it might not be possible to balance, but as a general principle I ...

Re: The project to save the Age of Heroes
White Mage (loyalists): He is strong against undeads and Drakes, but if you remove him the loyalists won't have access to healing at all. If possible keep him and the Red Mage. I doubt that it's possible to keep the White Mage and balance it against Drakes. White Mages are very strong against Drake...

Re: Reorganising the Wiki
You say "wiki", but your suggestions seem to be about the navigation bar at the top of all pages on this website (regardless of whether or not the page is a wiki page). That is a lot different that reorganizing the structure (categories and articles) of the wiki, for which you say very li...

Reorganising the Wiki
As we all know, the Wesnoth wiki is in a very messy state. This is rather serious considering that the wiki is actually most of the website. It seems that this has happened because the wiki has only been maintained or moderated on an ad hoc basis, and stuff has gradually been allowed to accrete unti...

Re: [Terminology] Should Marksman be renamed?
I haven't seen deadeye much, but it does have 'eye' in it, which skews it towards ranged attacks for me. Exact could work, but not exacting. That said, it sounds like strong term for this ability. I'd like to suggest 'keen', since for me it has connotations of the unit's mental skill rather than som...

'Wars and rumours of wars' is a biblical reference to one of the Gospels of the New Testament in which the the author describes the end of the world, just sayin'.

Re: What does 9/11 mean to you?
I haven't actually read the topic properly since I posted, but I saw 'Sharia Law', and probably should have said something before. Calling it 'Sharia Law' is a big misnomer, it is called 'sharia', no capital letter, no 'law'. What we perceive as Sharia law is one interpretation of sharia, and a rath...

Re: What does 9/11 mean to you?
I'm in a mood to post... unexpectedly long dry arrogant poncey post ahoy... It annoys me whenever terms degenerate and become misleading, which seems to happen especially when it circulates through the media too much. I read a book "The Rise and Fall of Communism" by Archie Brown (sorry Ga...

Re: The Era of Myths e9: portraits and translatability
I have corrected the German translation and I think I will start the Latin Traslation =D I cannot help but interfere... The diminutive of daemon, being Greek, would be daemonium. Caelestis is third declension, so you're looking for Caelestes, then again, as a word it just means 'gods', so maybe you...

Re: Issues of Gender
A discussion on IRC: < Espreon> Some languages don't go by masculine, feminine, and neuter. Some language categorize nouns by cooky things such as "dangerous things". I'm not kidding. < shadowmaster> it may be possible to add a .language_gender attribute that influences the UI choices with...

[translations] Issues of Gender
Many languages (like Romance and Slavic languages) use nouns that have a gender. Wesnoth already allows me to translate abilities, and traits depending on whether the a unit is masculine or feminine, but this does not work all the time, since it is assumed that all nouns are masculine and there is n...

Re: Khalifate feedback thread
Anti-derailment spoiler: Having dug around, "Muharib" means "Warrior; combatant; belligerent" . It's also a cognate with "muharebeh", according to Wiktionary, so anyone who knows Arabic wouldn't really have much of a reason to complain, since the meanings are different,...

Re: Where Khalifate is
Cattle and beasts of burden were found dead in the fields, and men went missing from their houses, with no clues but a thin stream of black blood. At first the settlers suspected raiders from the great desert, but when they sent scouts east they found nothing but a small mountain range and miles of...
