Re: What are you reading right now?

Currently trying to find Speaker for the Dead and Children of the Mind (you know, same series as Ender's Game) at the local library. In the meantime, however, I'm reading the Constitution. Good life concepts, but low on action. :eng:

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising

Wow! The chainmail looks all purty and chain-ish. Shiny, too. Good so far! The sword is bothering me a little. Sure, I play too many games with ridiculously oversized swords, which has warped my perception of size, but...it really does seem thin. Almost like a medieval lightsaber. Swords can be that...

Re: Campaign challenges

Ghouls probly would not work, because they have 5 movement hexes as opposed to the WC's 4. Handy for open fields, but not much difference in caves. :eng:
For DiD, why not losing no units? Pretty hard considering the first scenario.

Re: Scenario Review: NR 4 - Clearing the Mines

(1) NEWB difficulty, 1.4.3. (2) About…8. Then again, I was abusing saveloads. (3) Crystal. Go in, clear out, don't die. (4) The dialogue was decent. There was just no motive for Tallin to go to the dark side, other than seeing another portrait. The villain was hard to take seriously…until the...

Re: Portrait sketches

Yup.
I noticed the cape was brought up earlier, and I have to second that it looks dull. The color is fine, but if it overlapped the left side of his body a leetle bit it would look more, I don't know, cool. Besides, it would match the sprite better.

Re: South Guard 6b. The Long March

Huzzah for the rebalancing! Because up til then, this scenario would be rated like… (1) EASY on 1.4.3 (2) On a scale of 1-10, maybe 11? See #5 (3) I thought I just had to get urza up north, not Deoran. Maybe I'm just thick that way. (4) It really has been a while… The dialogue did make me wonder why...

Re: Generic Orc portraits

Not that I know much about portraits (aside from a heap of failed attempts in my trash can), but I try to be helpful. :) Girgistan's first portrait looks pretty good, but the nose/mouth area is bothering me. Maybe a slightly more prominent nose? And it may just be the fact that it's a profile, but t...

Re: Scenario Review: DiD 12 - Forever and Ever, Amen

Personally, I find it fun (and easy) to beat this scenario as many times as I want. However, I usually get bored around wave 8 or so and suicide Mal. Either I put Ancient Mal onto the village near the mushroom grove and let him destroy all that comes near ( ), or I recall three nightgaunts...

Re: It's always good to come back to Wesnoth

Sometimes I've forgot about Wesnoth for a month or so when there's some academic concern, and even longer when I discover some other cool gizmo. iPhones and Starcraft are gizmos. How would you define not playing Wesnoth? I once spent a week trying to draw an orc portrait, and didn't touch the game i...

Re: Scenario Review: LoW 2 - Hostile Mountains

Hmm… I found it useful to lure a single troll (or, towards the end where I had better troops, two) out of the hills/mountains into the woods with a unit that could definitely survive the troll's attack, then when my turn came, slow it, and then employ a mix of making it a pincushion, crispy, or hack...

Re: Age of Wesnoth Players

@Skizzaltix: Now I know four people who have read the series. That's the benefit of being able to choose your classes. I can't do that yet (still in middle school), but my brother in high school is in honors classes whenever possible, and certainly enjoys it. I just feel like I have more to ...

Re: Unit sprites for Invasion from the Unknown

I think it's because the legs are too long, not angled weirdly. The Mystic's (the one in the center, correct?) right arm also seems an infinitesimally bit too long; it looks like if she let her arm fall normally, her fingertips would be below her knees. All that said, I wish I could make/mod sprites...

Re: Trying to beat Rise of Wesnoth.

My advice may be a little outdated, as I still use 1.4.3, but I make a point of being nice. :D I generally try to level up 3 Bowmen and 3 Poachers, because l3 bowmen do quite a lot of range damage during day, and at night can serve as a meatshield if necessary. Poachers get 60% def in forests, and b...
