Re: Dialouge/Writing forum
I like this idea, a lot. That way, you don't have to be a programmer to pitch a story idea. This makes it very plausible for someone from coding, someone from art, someone from music, and someone from writing to collaborate on a single campaign. And maybe help to teach each other, too.

Re: D&D and the RNG?
Well, this would make the second % a bit arbitrary. You could just knock the % marker off, and say that an elf on forest has 70 defense. Then, the standard deviation curve produces a result from 10 to 100, and you compare that to the defense. So the defenses wouldn't change. All that would change i...

Re: Elves of Fear & Night
I'd think that this would apply more to "fae". Like, Sea-Fae, Blood-Fae, Sky-Fae. In the idea of Fae being connected in a way to their environment.AI wrote:My interpretation is that while humans adapt through tools and a flexible mind, elves adapt in a more physical way.

Re: D&D and the RNG?
I'd say some sort of alteration to the hit system. You wouldn't even see anything visibly change, merely the hits. I'd probably say that you could implement a bell curve based on the following sort of thing... ... So you would, for example, be dealing with a 34% chance to get 50%, a 34% chance to g...

Re: D&D and the RNG?
...so you want each individual swing to have a bell curve? How would that be done? I won't make any statements based off assumptions and will wait for your response instead. Well, it would be interesting to play around with, I'm not 100% sure how to implement it. A simple way to do it would be a st...

Re: D&D and the RNG?
T How is it not an arbitrary number? It wouldn't matter if you removed the "%" symbol and called defenses "1", "2", "3", etc. Then they would have no relevance to the actual percentage chance to hit . Arbitrary? Perhaps, in the sense that elvish archer could ...

Re: Elves of Fear & Night
Some of the variations are Elves that lived in a enviroment and have become adapt to it, Ice Elves ( or in Orbivm the Issalefr ) live in cold icy conditions and that is how they got their name. I would like to see though that although they may be known as the Water Elves, or something like that ( i...

Re: STORMSWEPT Special Terrain That Nerfs Flying Units' Mobility
The canopy forest idea might not be so good in my opinion. By saying that ground units get free hits on the flying units because they have a sort of "ambush" ability and not taking any of their own, it implies that the game is realistic to a degree. And if you want to get into the concept...

Re: D&D and the RNG?
The 200% thing was just an example, although I do want to point out that the fact that Wesnoth uses percentages has no bearing on the randomness factor. It doesn't have to cap out at 100, because nothing adds up to that top percentage. Ergo, it's an arbitrary number. No, it is not. How is it not an...

Re: D&D and the RNG?
JW: the use of a d20 versus a d10 is minimally significant, statistically. Rolling a 1 or 2 on a d20 is the same, statistically, as rolling a 1 on a d10. If you multiplied all defenses in Wesnoth by 2, and made the percentage be out of 200%, nothing would drastically change. No. 5% (1/20) is not th...

D&D and the RNG?
So now that I've got attention...I'm going to spring some rather interesting musings that I had whilst wondering why people have so many complaints about the RNG. See, what I started wondering is maybe, if the RNG truly is fair, there's something in the way that randomness is presented that gives a ...

Not at the moment. You'd have to have a totally modular spriting system.
