Defeating leaders in campaign scenarios

Are the units of a specific leader supposed to disappear immediately upon the defeat of their superior? I was under the impression that this was true, but when I tried Valley of Death earlier tonight, I was surprised to find that the swarm of wraiths from the Northern and Eastern liches were very mu...

Re: Unit Advanacements

Thank you everyone for the responses. I've been playing a bit more and decided on the 1:1 paladin to grand knight leveling. I'm currently at four paladins and three grand knights, with a regular knight halfway to advancement. I ended up going with swordsman for the spearman promotion, and the royal ...

Unit Advanacements

I have 6 knights and one spearman about to level up, and I was wondering what advancements I choose, in general and specifically for The Rise of Wesnoth. I was thinking splitting the knight equally into Paladins and Grand Knights, and having the spearman become a swordsman, but I'm not sure. I espec...

Re: HttT - Return to Wesnoth replay evaluation

I'm just trying to clarify. I didn't reload because I didn't like the results of combat, I reloaded because I made a dumb move with an important character and then watched the computer get very lucky. I didn't think the sanctity of the game was so great that I should be expected to restart from the ...

Re: HttT - Return to Wesnoth replay evaluation

I mean, the scenario ended because Delfador died. Should I have been expected to restart from the beginning?

HttT - Return to Wesnoth replay evaluation

Is it supposed to be this easy on medium? I recruited two turns worth of units (and only eight overall - two grand knights, two paladins, two mages of light, one arch mage and one silver mage), in addition to the initial units of Delfador, Konrad, Kalenz, and Li'sar, and basically steamrolled. I had...

Re: HTTT Cliffs of Thoria

No problem. I definitely think the Drake leader needs to not present itself until you have progressed a bit, and perhaps you should make a set number of Drakes to spawn based on the level, allocated equally to the Drake mountain bases (there are nine bases, IIRC - maybe 18 total drakes for easy, 27 ...

Re: HTTT Cliffs of Thoria

oh, okay. that kind of makes the getting through 18th and 19th scenarios a complete joke, though. its four turns to rush a merman to the eastern edge of the map in 18 and no more than 25 straightforward turns in cliffs of thoria

Re: HTTT Cliffs of Thoria

did they make it substantially easier in 1.8.3? i tried it jokingly in medium by building two full keeps of gryphons and rushing, and encountered no difficulties at all. i killed the leader in the second or third turn. i'll post the replay so you can analyze it.

Dwarven Doors

It seems to me that there are a lot of parallels between this mission and a certain part of Lord of the Rings.

I owe you all an apology. I forgot to mention that I was playing HttT, so I did have both magi and shamans. I see the validity of you arguements, though, except for the fact that the shyde moves just as well as a Slyph.
