The problem is just the nature of single player campaigns. You either get loads of promotions, and win too easily, or have bad luck early on and crash at the midpoint, with very little in between. The very high experience requirements for units also makes it very hard to gain veterans, compared to ...

Personally, i find the randomness liberating. I prefer to have an general overall strategy, and a more specific goals for the next few turn. It's not practical to have a highly detailed strategy for many turns, because there are too many variables. You can't consider all the probable scenarios for ...

Do you have any suggestions to stop the random crashes in Windows discussed in http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10514 ? Soliton said it was caused by an ICC profile int he PNGs which is incompatible, and that it can be ripped out. I don't know how to do that but I would definitely give i...

I agree that the list of 'problems' is nonsense, however I know where he comes from more or less, having had experience with this type of player in some roleplaying game-groups.. they are what we call muchkins. These guys play not for the fun of the roleplay, not for the challenge of the puzzle or t...

Seriously, who cares about any of this? Maybe the game IS a chance game. Maybe it IS a strategy game. And what you call it means what? Nothing. It's still a damn fine, fun, addictive game. CarryOn talks like he wants other people to go, "Oh my god he's RIGHT, it IS a chance game. WHAT A DISASTE...

I just finished the South Guard on easy... Just wanna say it makes a fantastic learning experience for a first-time player who just completed the basic tutorial and is looking to understand the game a bit deeper. In fact, I think you should add a suggestion at the end of the first tutorial to play t...

Dang it I have the same exact 'random windows crash' problem after I finish killing a group of the rocky horror monsters.

Since I don't know how to 'strip' PNG files I guess I'll just put this scenario on the back burner till next version :?

Show unit resistances in the game window?

Here's a simple idea that would speed up the gameplay for us newbies. . I enjoy playing and learning about the different units a lot; however, it seems I spend a lot of time going into the Description screen many times over, not to read up on a particular unit, but just to review resistance / terrai...
