Claustrophobic-when packed in tight areas by too many allies or enemies, has reduced attack/defense by 10% Ooh! I like this idea! It's a little unspecific though... This unit does 1 less damage for each unit next to it. That'd have to be 'for each unit next to it, beyond the first', otherwise it'd ...

Re: zolphers
how are you to get a zolpher too the next level there so weak HP:3 Attack:1-1 there weak against everything except cold, it dont seem possible I'm assuming that you mean the zolphas in A Gryphon's Tale . It's a fairly cheap trick, really - they can move into cave walls, where they have 98% defence....

Magi and DAs are roughly equal on the battlefield, but IMO that is because the wartime arts comprise only one facet of the Mage's knowledge while inflicting pain is the DA's sole focus. Regardless of whether this is true or not, black magic in the Wesnoth world is a feared and shunned art. It's not...

There should be some error output to provide clues as to why this is happening. What does it say? It doesn't just throw up an error output and then return you to the main menu; that I could deal with. It crashes the BfW application - no error message, nothing, just the OS X 'The application has une...

I think you should post an exampleish scenario(where the bug appears) in? Then we all could gaze on it to find it out. Well, the individual scenarios run fine - it's the transitions between them that are misbehaving. Here's the campaign so far - four scenarios, one dialogue-only. The 3-4 tra...

crashing after each scenario
I've caved in and started playing around with WML, and have sketchily implemented three scenarios of a campaign; I'm still very new to the markup, but it seems straightforward enough. There's one issue which completely confuses me, however. When playing through the campaign, Wesnoth crashes at the e...

I thought that the Wesnoth world was set up so that magic was rare (and black magic particularly so, because it can't be openly practised); moreover, the description of the Mage gives the impression that they have to invest a great deal of time and study just to reach 1st-level abilities. Hence, any...

It's not that hard a scenario, in my experience. Just move your free spearmen as for north as possible each turn, so that the enemy has to slow down to kill them. I can consistently win it with Alanin being a dragoon. Hmm. This seemed to both make sense, and be pretty similar to what I remember sta...

Re: Fire Dragon missing?
Two things. First, if someone has a walkthrough, or replay, or even guidance as to how to complete Outriding the Outriders, I'd appreciate it. Spearmen - even on mountains - are knocked over by two outriders, but even if they took 3 or 4 my dragoon would still die. [It *might* be more doable if the...

I'm pretty sure that Wesnoth doesn't distinguish 'your' keep from enemy keeps; you can recall on any keep, and the only code distinction is where your leader starts. Even if you worked around this (e.g. linked it to leader starting hex), Defensive would be a serious disadvantage in campaigns, since ...

The usual explanation is that orcs a) are unprincipled mercenaries, easily bought, b) respect and admire brute power, and willingly follow it, c) will seize any opportunity for battle and looting. So orcs will ally with undead as and when it's convenient, because they'll ally with anyone if it fits ...

Hmm, merman went... uh... very very badly. Like everything else, they were swept aside like nothing. Three turns of defending, even backed by shamans, and the undead still had won, easily. The knight who went to retrieve the water died... no match for 6 wraiths and 50 corpses. I've seen hard... but...
