Re: Warcraft3 pseudo random distribution in wesnoth.

Hi ZedDB,

that's pretty cool, actually.

I will try and see if i manage to introduce that into WesnothXP in a pluggable way (that is as another choosable RNG algorithm). In any case, your effort is very much appreciated :) .

Re: Percentage Statistics

i just want to know how often my units are actually landing, not how much damage the game expected The question is, why would you want to know that? Maybe this would be interesting if you suspect that the RNG is flawed. Which i am very sure it is not as i have seen the code implementation and every...

Re: [Announcement] No RND Mod

First of all: Many thanks to leonid for providing this mode :) . I am glad to see that this forum is still used despite me being absent for quite some time :? . Just two quick notes: 1. A couple of times it was called for more or even complete determinism. This should be achievable with the current ...

Re: What do you if your teammate is a newb?

I ask him if he wants to take advice. If not i suggest to declare gg. If he doesn't agree, i go on and do the best i can. Sometimes i take a lot more risk than i normally do, challenging the odds trying to get the opponents into unexpected trouble.

Re: exiting automatically

Yes, it happens to others, too (me included). However it is not reproducible, at least not easily and therefore very hard to track. We are aware of the problem but it might take a while to find the real cause.

...but still i feel that this kind of smartness (on both sides) is an artifact. Indeed, the ai is not that smart at all. What makes it do that kind of thing is a strong urge to kill something - whenever a possibility shows, it will march that way. The rest is rather nice side effects, but the ai di...

Re: Implement the Wesnoth Ladder

Do you mean that there is a programmer slowly working on it somewhere who could use some help? Or do you mean that there are literally no programmers working on it right now? Unfortunately the latter, actually. As this is a bigger change request, we should maybe try to identify some smaller subtask...

Re: Ladder Site Online...

Please, Wesnoth Programers, find a solution! As a Wesnoth programmer, i can tell you that it is impossible (well, depending on how much time you want to invest for cheating, but still). The reason is, that wesnoth is open source. It means you can get the source code (which is linked on the home pag...

Re: Suggestion: Chess Clock

For me, the question is this: Is it more important to have an interesting and challenging game being ended in time or do we want to keep it that way? If the answer is yes, then a chess clock like it was originally suggested is perfectly valid. It is just an additional element of strategy to have you...

Re: Implement the Wesnoth Ladder

Sadly the BfW forums, as most forums on the internet, are not really a workshop for ideas as they are for opinions and personal feelings and experiences. I happen to disagree, at least for this subforum  . Because of that it's mostly uninteresting and not relevant what the ladder community ha...

Re: web-based ?

Indeed, there is hardly more to find than inline documentation inside the code (if there is any :P ).

Your best bet is probably to come to IRC (freenode, #wesnoth-dev) and ask for some specific topics you have in mind.

Re: Implement the Wesnoth Ladder

I would like to start working on this, but I think there are two questions we have to get clear first: 1. Should this be mandatory (namely the random matching of players)? I don't have much of an opinion on this one. Maybe this should also be discussed within the ladder forum thread. 2. Should the g...
