*this being my dad's vested opinion, I have no idea how true it is Your dad is correct. I also suggest you ignore the Java haters (and there are plenty of them). Not that Java doesn't have its downsides, but so does everything. Unfortunately, if you wanted to contribute code to Wesnoth you'd have t...

A specially prepared version of this: (minus the logos) http://www.stolaf.edu/people/ketterin/wesnoth/WesnothWallpaper.jpg That's pretty cool. I don't suppose there's a higher-res version floating around? Like, say, 1280x1024? :) One with Delfador would be cool too. If you did a new version you mig...

Thanks mjs-de, I'll give those a try.

I'll admit I don't actually know how ebuilds end up in Portage. Care to fill me in torangan? Also, if you point me to contact information for the right people I will commence with the pestering. :) Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

Wesnoth development line: gentoo ebuilds?

Anyone have plans of creating Gentoo ebuilds for the development line? I don't know how difficult it would be to create an ebuild for 1.1.2a, but it would be nice if I could emerge the newer version.

Wayfarer, I've always found your units to be interesting and good. However, most of the time I just can't figure out what most parts of them are because you put to much details into them imo. They end up slightly pixelated and very "noisy". i second that, a bit less detail would make thin...

This is the way the FSF recommends you do things: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#AssignCopyright I think it simplifies things a lot. Sure it does... if everyone is willing to do that. But not everyone necessarily is, and there's plenty of artwork already contributed. So that doesn't help ...

Again, the question here is the definition of "preferred". This is very subjective, because what is preferred by one person is not preferred by another person. No, it is not subjective, except that the only opinion that matters is the opinion of the copyright holder(s). If I distribute ja...

For portraits, I agree that I'd prefer to modify them in some sort of layered format, but they're still (usually?) 200x200, which I think is perfectly well modifiable in the final flat form. You've put your finger precisely on the point of contention: It's modifiable in that form, but is it the 'pr...

Wouldn't a burrito be more mysterious? Tacos are open for all the see, but the burrito keeps its contents hidden. ;)

But there is just one thing. He does not look like an elvish lord with magical powers. He looks like a "close-combat class" hero from some 3D rpg game, and not the "magical-leadership class". you know what I mean? Well, he is a skilled swordsman. At least, he's doing a good job ...

I would like to see registering on a server be an option. Aside from being able to reserve a name for yourself on a server, there are other features which would require this (such as stat tracking) that might be desired.

I think that large rhino looking creature in DP's profile should be in the game. :) Not with a drake riding it though... maybe a dwarf? It would be slow, very low defense but high resistance (though maybe weak to cold) and lots of hp. It could have two attacks: it could have an impact charge attack,...

At one point I did advocate an all-dwarf faction, but I've changed my mind. I think it's a bad idea. Racially pure factions, in general, are boring. This is why I tend not to play classic. Although I do think the outlaw-dwarf alliance is nonsense, they would be better off allied with viking-humans ...

Or escape, or just hit the menu button in the GUI. Any of those should finish the current action, then either quit the replay or bring you to the menu, from which you can go to "Quit". I can't use the GUI menu in the middle of the replay, that's what I tried. Ctrl-Q and Esc do work, thoug...

Replay controls

I recently watched a replay for the first time. I was dismayed to discover there was no way to exit the replay once it started - I was stuck watching the whole thing, which sometimes went faster than I would wish, while sometimes going too slowly (like when watching a zombie horde move). At the very...
