*this being my dad's vested opinion, I have no idea how true it is Your dad is correct. I also suggest you ignore the Java haters (and there are plenty of them). Not that Java doesn't have its downsides, but so does everything. Unfortunately, if you wanted to contribute code to Wesnoth you'd have t...

A specially prepared version of this: (minus the logos) http://www.stolaf.edu/people/ketterin/wesnoth/WesnothWallpaper.jpg That's pretty cool. I don't suppose there's a higher-res version floating around? Like, say, 1280x1024? :) One with Delfador would be cool too. If you did a new version you mig...

Wesnoth development line: gentoo ebuilds?
Anyone have plans of creating Gentoo ebuilds for the development line? I don't know how difficult it would be to create an ebuild for 1.1.2a, but it would be nice if I could emerge the newer version.

This is the way the FSF recommends you do things: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#AssignCopyright I think it simplifies things a lot. Sure it does... if everyone is willing to do that. But not everyone necessarily is, and there's plenty of artwork already contributed. So that doesn't help ...

For portraits, I agree that I'd prefer to modify them in some sort of layered format, but they're still (usually?) 200x200, which I think is perfectly well modifiable in the final flat form. You've put your finger precisely on the point of contention: It's modifiable in that form, but is it the 'pr...

I think that large rhino looking creature in DP's profile should be in the game. :) Not with a drake riding it though... maybe a dwarf? It would be slow, very low defense but high resistance (though maybe weak to cold) and lots of hp. It could have two attacks: it could have an impact charge attack,...

At one point I did advocate an all-dwarf faction, but I've changed my mind. I think it's a bad idea. Racially pure factions, in general, are boring. This is why I tend not to play classic. Although I do think the outlaw-dwarf alliance is nonsense, they would be better off allied with viking-humans ...

Replay controls
I recently watched a replay for the first time. I was dismayed to discover there was no way to exit the replay once it started - I was stuck watching the whole thing, which sometimes went faster than I would wish, while sometimes going too slowly (like when watching a zombie horde move). At the very...
