You're right, it was intentional, and I won't be using these guys for the FoS unit. But do you mind if I use them for something else? I will eventually have need of a mounted legionnaire-type guy, and these would save me some work. ;) Feel free to use him for whatever, I'm coding him into my game a...

Roman commander unit

I was playing The Fall of silvium and did not like my in ability to use my commander for fighting like in most campaigns, so I hastily made two commander units for the Roman faction, a level 2 Proconsul and a level 3 Consul. I have a feeling that the weakness of the commander was an intended part of...

I didnt realize that this could be done. You go to the campaign server directly on your browser (campaigns.wesnoth.org) and you can download from that. It is kind of a hassle because you have to install the add-ons yourself.

Campaign Server Disconnecting

I haven't played the game in a while, and I recently downloaded 1.3.2. When I try and download anything off the campaign server I get an error message that says "Remote host disconnected." I have been able to download some smaller things, but it usually disconnects after about 40% or so of...

Some people have been bugging me to get the naga done. I've finally had a moment to iron out a unit or two, so here you go. Comments are very, very welcome. This line is a line of naga that do poorly in water. They are heavily armored, and strong (for naga), and carry a mace - they are also slower ...

I think the naga history is limited to: Nagas are the long time enemies of the Merfolk, and in Asheviere's they time allied with orcs to finally defeat their opponents. They usually join forces with anyone willing to help them defeat the mermen. (from the race descriptions) And there used to be a Sa...

personally I thought that HttT was better to learn the game on. It fits into the tutorial, and it has a nice gradual increase in difficulty.

I did use SotBE to learn wml though. 8)

Having the protrait in the background of the unit stats looks cool, but I worry that some portraits would make it harder to read the unit stats. My idea is to have the portraits showed when you mouse over the unit picture or name in the side bar. Kind of like how the resistances and description are...

Re: More Classical Factions?

Hoplite -> Spartiate -> Pezetairos The hoplite has a pierce attack and a secondary blade attack. Alone, he is no better than an average warrior. When a group of hoplite are arranged in a line, however, each gives a defensive bonus to the man to his left. And, when a group of hoplites are arranged i...

I like the following situations: Medium-sized map, medium armies (16-25 units) Small map, large armies (35-50 units) Tiny map, small armies (3-8 units) I use the theory of: Large map, small, mobile armies (3-4 groups of 6) Medium map, huge army (30-40 units, and (unless multiplayer) a 6-12 good rec...

Personally I prefer small, advanced armies because they are easier to command. The only real exception to this is HttT, because there are so many different situations, and you can recruit units for them.

Re: Trait idea for mages:

•It is an advantage in that the unit deals an additional strike, and thus has a better chance of hitting the enemy (especially relevant with, say, dark adepts). Good when a non-wounded mage is attacking a 5-hp unit. Isn't the point of using an offensive mage instead of an archer because they ...
